Rose
Cabral
Rose is the busy mother of two little boys—Joshua, age four,
and an infant Nicholas. Kids—her own and the patients she
sees in the dental office—keep her supercharged.
“They’re fun. High energy,”
she says. “And they’re funny.”
Rose likes to tell the story of the small girl
who proudly announced she would be a princess for Halloween. And
Dr. Coppe, the child declared, should be Prince Charming. As she
was marching out of the office, the child waved to her dentist.
“See you at the ball,” she warbled.
Rose explains that the dental assistant’s
job includes setting up for procedures, charting and prepping the
small patients. This, she sees, is a great opportunity to use child
psychology to engage the patient’s interest and curiosity
and to instill a level of comfort even before the procedures begin.
“Red,” declares Rose. “That’s
the color I’d choose to be if I were a color. I like red.
It’s vibrant.”
And it’s also the color of a ... well...
of a rose.
